Arora MD Longevity & Aesthetics in East Brunswick, NJ offers dermaplaning, a gentle exfoliation in which a trained practitioner uses a sterile surgical-grade blade to remove dead skin cells and fine vellus hair (peach fuzz). A session takes about 30 minutes, uses no chemicals, suits sensitive skin, and leaves skin smoother and brighter with better product absorption. Licensed aesthetician Mansi lists dermaplaning among her treatments.
Dermaplaning
Who it’s for
The first conversation is about you, not a protocol. You may be a good fit if:
- Dull, dry or rough skin
- Superficial acne scarring
- Fine lines
- Uneven tone from sun exposure
- A special occasion coming up and you want makeup to sit smoothly
How it works
What to expect
Consultation
We check your skin and the products you use, to confirm dermaplaning suits you. It is not for active acne, rosacea or skin infections.
Before treatment
Avoid direct sun for 48 hours, and stop retinoids and exfoliants 3 to 5 days beforehand.
Treatment
The blade is held at a precise angle and glided across the skin. Most people find it relaxing. About 30 minutes.
Aftercare and follow-up
Minor redness fades within hours. Use sunscreen, skip exfoliants for a week, and book again every 3 to 4 weeks to maintain it.
What dermaplaning does
Removing the top layer of dead cells lets fresher skin show through and lets your skincare work harder.
- Smoother skin you can feel right away
- A brighter, more even complexion
- Serums and moisturizers absorb more deeply
- Foundation goes on more smoothly
- No numbing and no chemicals

Questions
Dermaplaning: common questions
Is dermaplaning painful?
No. It is gentle, and most people find it relaxing.
Will hair grow back thicker or darker?
No. Dermaplaning removes fine vellus hair, which grows back with the same texture.
How often should I have it?
Every 3 to 4 weeks keeps skin renewing and results consistent.
Can I wear makeup afterwards?
Yes. You can return to your day immediately, and many people find makeup goes on more smoothly.
Can it be combined with other treatments?
Yes, often with chemical peels or facials. We will recommend combinations at your consultation.
