Arora MD Longevity & Aesthetics in East Brunswick, NJ offers non-surgical hair restoration using microneedling on the scalp. Fine needles create tiny channels that prompt the scalp’s healing response and increase blood flow to the follicles, and PRP or a growth serum can be applied straight afterwards so it reaches deeper. It suits men and women with mild to moderate thinning.

Who it’s for

The first conversation is about you, not a protocol. You may be a good fit if:

  • Men and women with mild to moderate thinning or early hair loss
  • Pattern hair loss (androgenetic alopecia)
  • Hair loss linked to stress, or patchy loss from alopecia areata
  • Thinning that came with age or hormonal change
  • You would rather avoid a surgical option such as a transplant

How it works

What to expect

  1. Consultation

Your provider looks at your hair loss pattern, medical history and goals, and whether microneedling suits you.

  2. Preparation

The scalp is cleansed, and a numbing cream may be applied for comfort.

  3. Treatment

A handheld device passes over the thinning areas, typically in 30 to 60 minutes. PRP or a serum can follow immediately.

  4. Aftercare and series

Mild redness usually settles within a day or two. A series of sessions over several months is typical.

How microneedling helps the scalp

The micro-injuries trigger the body’s repair response: more blood flow reaches the follicles, bringing oxygen and nutrients, and collagen production rises in the scalp.

The same channels let topical treatments such as PRP or growth serums absorb more deeply than they would on their own.

After your session

A few simple steps protect the treated scalp.

  • Wait 24 to 48 hours before washing your hair
  • Then use mild, sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner
  • Wear a hat or sunscreen outdoors
  • Skip hair dye and chemical treatments for at least a week
  • Keep to the session schedule your provider recommends

Questions

Hair restoration: common questions

How many hair restoration sessions will I need?

Most patients have 3 to 6 sessions, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. Your provider sets the plan at your consultation.

Does microneedling for hair loss hurt?

It is generally well tolerated. A numbing cream is applied first, and any tingling during treatment usually fades quickly.

When will I see new growth?

Usually after 3 to 6 months. Hair grows in cycles, so new growth takes time to show.

Can it be combined with PRP?

Yes. PRP or a topical growth serum is often applied straight after microneedling, when it can penetrate more deeply.

Are there side effects?

Usually mild: temporary redness, swelling or irritation that settles within a few days.
